What IS Covered — Manufacturer Defects

If your Mission First paddle fails within 90 days of purchase due to a defect in materials or workmanship, we’ll replace it free of charge. Covered defects include:

  • Delamination — the carbon fiber face separating from the core without impact damage.
  • Core failure — dead spots appearing in the paddle face during normal play (not from impact damage).
  • Handle separation — handle detaching from the paddle body at the factory joint.
  • Edge guard separation — edge guard peeling away from the face at the manufacturing seam.
  • Cracks without impact cause — hairline cracks appearing during normal play without visible impact damage.
  • Cosmetic defects reported within 14 days of receipt — paint bubbling, peeling, or finish defects.

What is NOT Covered — Normal Wear & Tear

Normal wear from regular play is expected and is not a manufacturer defect.

  • Face grit wear — the textured carbon surface naturally smooths with play over 3–6 months. This is normal and expected.
  • Cosmetic scratches — marks, scuffs, and scratches on the face from normal play.
  • Edge guard wear — nicks, scrapes, and wear on the edge guard from court contact.
  • Grip wear — overgrip and handle wear. The overgrip is designed to be replaced periodically.
  • Fading — color fading from sun exposure, UV, or long-term storage.
  • Dents and marks from play — minor dents from paddle-to-paddle contact.
  • Ball-mark discoloration — marks on the face from ball impact during play.

What is NOT Covered — User Damage

Damage caused by the user, accidents, or improper use is not covered.

  • Impact damage — cracks, chips, or breakage from hitting the court, net post, fence, another paddle, or other hard objects.
  • Handle damage from force — snapped or broken handles from force impact.
  • Heat damage — warping, melting, or adhesive failure from exposure to heat (car interiors, direct sun, hot surfaces).
  • Water damage — damage from submersion, prolonged moisture, or humid storage.
  • Modifications — any paddle that has been drilled, sanded, re-weighted, re-painted, or otherwise modified from its original condition.
  • Cleaning damage — damage from abrasive cleaners, solvents, or dishwasher use.
  • Transport damage — damage occurring during unprotected transport outside a paddle bag.
